Summary
Home Energy Guide Hub does not set any cookies of its own. It uses your browser’s local storage and session storage for a handful of settings, listed below. Nothing optional runs until you make a choice in the privacy banner, and no analytics or marketing scripts are installed at this time.
What we store in your browser
| Name | Type | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| heg-theme | Local storage | Remembers light or dark theme if you chose one | Until you clear it or pick “System” |
| heg-consent | Local storage | Remembers your privacy banner choice | Until you clear it or change it |
| heg-consent-date | Local storage | Records when you made that choice | Same as above |
| heg-recent | Local storage | Your last 5 site searches, shown only to you | Until you clear it |
| heg-check-en / heg-check-es | Local storage | Progress in the contractor checklist | Until you clear it |
| heg-state | Session storage | The state you picked in the rebate checker | Until you close the tab |
These items never leave your device and are not used to identify you.
Spam protection on forms
When you start filling in a form, Cloudflare Turnstile loads to check that you are a person, not a bot. It may use strictly necessary storage for that check. It is not used for advertising and does not load on pages where you do not use a form.
Cookies from our host
Our host, Cloudflare, may set a strictly necessary security cookie in some situations to protect the site from bots and abuse. It is not used for advertising.
Optional analytics
If we add privacy-friendly analytics in the future, its script will be blocked until you choose “Allow analytics” in the banner, and this table will be updated to list any storage it uses. Choosing “Essential only” keeps it switched off.
Changing your choice
Use the “Privacy choices” button in the footer of any page to reopen the banner. You can also clear site data in your browser settings at any time.
